Georgia Public Library Service began development of Evergreen ILS in 2004 to provision a statewide consortial catalog for the PINES network. The Evergreen ILS is deployed in the Library Management category to operate catalog, circulation, and resource sharing across member libraries, and the project went live for PINES on September 5, 2006.
Implementation centered on a shared bibliographic catalog and centralized circulation workflows, delivering core Library Management capabilities including cataloging, patron management, check out and check in processing, and consortial holds and interlibrary loan orchestration. Configuration emphasis targeted consortial policy controls and unified bibliographic records to enable consistent discovery and fulfillment across participating sites.
Operational scope covered the statewide PINES consortium, enabling Georgia Public Library Service to run consortial operations across Georgia and align lending rules, discovery, and fulfillment workflows for participating libraries and branches. Integrations were focused on shared catalog access and resource sharing mechanisms inside the consortium rather than named external enterprise system integrations.
Governance adopted a centralized consortial model to manage circulation policies, catalog maintenance, and resource sharing workflows across member libraries, with a multi year development and rollout from 2004 to production in 2006. The Evergreen ILS deployment delivered an estimated annual software savings of about $10 million for member libraries.
