In 2014, Gazprom Neft began deploying the Hitachi Data Systems G1000 as part of a global IT transformation to consolidate storage and migrate 48 SAP business applications in its Russian data centers. The program used the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000 within the Servers, Storage and Networking category to centralize ERP storage and production database resources across its on‑premises sites.
The implementation emphasized consolidated block storage and centralized storage management for SAP ERP workloads and production databases, configured to improve availability and backup capability. Hitachi Data Systems G1000 configuration work included storage virtualization and platform consolidation to reduce fragmentation of SAP application storage and to standardize backup targets for production databases.
Integrations focused on SAP application landscapes and production database systems running in Gazprom Neft Russian data centers, and the deployment was executed with Asteros Consulting as the implementation partner. Governance centered on a partner-led rollout into ERP and database operations, with project scope limited to Russia and with explicit operational objectives of improved availability and strengthened backup capability.
