In 2014, GFL Environmental implemented Microsoft Dynamics GP as its enterprise ERP Financial application, establishing Dynamics GP as the primary platform for corporate accounting and finance operations. The deployment moved core transactional processing onto Microsoft Dynamics GP and placed the application into production from 2014 onward.
The Microsoft Dynamics GP implementation focused on standard financial management capabilities typical of an ERP Financial system, including general ledger architecture, accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, cash management and bank reconciliation processes, and consolidated financial reporting across legal entities. Configuration emphasized a unified chart of accounts and period close orchestration to support consistent month end and statutory reporting across GFL's Canadian operations.
Data migration and operational governance were central to the rollout, with accounting data and opening balances migrated from Intuit Quickbooks Enterprise into Microsoft Dynamics GP. Ongoing operational controls were instituted with role based access, standardized reconciliation procedures, and centralized close checklists to align finance and accounting departments to the Dynamics GP platform.

The implementation centered on dispatch and fleet operational workflows used by dispatch staff in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with documented dispatcher activity from July 2020 to July 2021. The configuration supported phone-based customer intake for residential and commercial inquiries, and enabled collaboration among dispatchers to resolve field issues.
Integrations were explicitly operational, linking AMCS Trux Waste Management with Citrix mainframe access, Geotab telematics for vehicle location data, native Trux operational screens, and Excel for report compilation. Operational scope included dispatch, drivers in the field, and HRM management receiving daily location and incident reports, with formal hazard escalation to site management and embedded collaboration workflows among coworkers.
