In 2019 Gold Fields implemented Suprema BioLite N2 terminals at its Tarkwa and Damang mines in Ghana as the physical Time Clock (Hardware) layer for a workforce management deployment. The deployment positioned Suprema BioLite N2 devices to capture biometric time and attendance data for a large site workforce, creating a ground level data capture fabric for HR and payroll processing.
Configuration centered on on‑device biometric enrollment and verification, local attendance logging, device management, and secure template storage to support shift and attendance recording typical of time clock hardware implementations. Suprema BioLite N2 was used to register employees, capture clock in and clock out events, and maintain time stamp records at the edge before synchronization with central systems.
The solution was integrated with Gold Fields SAP HR and payroll environment in Ghana, with regional distributor visisure West Africa Ltd supplying the devices and delivering the integration work to push attendance records into SAP for downstream payroll and HR processing. Operational coverage included the Tarkwa and Damang mine sites and supported thousands of site workers, aligning device provisioning and enrollment with site access and payroll cycles.
Governance and rollout were managed as an HR time and attendance program, with visisure providing device provisioning, enrollment support, and operational handover to Gold Fields HR and payroll teams. The implementation supported the HR/time-attendance use case and was intended to improve attendance accuracy for payroll reconciliation and workforce management.
