In 2010 Guess Europe implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM as its Core HR platform. The deployment was led from Guess Europe Sagl in Bioggio, with a project leader responsible for rolling out the application to all European branches and coordinating HR and payroll change efforts across the EMEA footprint.
Oracle PeopleSoft HCM was configured to support core payroll processing and payroll accounting workflows, including preparation of accounting entries, reclassification and balance outputs. The implementation included functional configuration for HR payroll budgeting and monthly forecasting, compensation and benefits management, job classification and position slotting, and workforce reporting to support salary administration and benchmarking activities.
The implementation was sized to cover HR, payroll and related controlling functions, extending to General Service and Travel expense control tasks that the HR Controlling team oversaw. PeopleSoft outputs were organized to feed accounting and HR budget processes, and to provide consolidated payroll and payroll budget data for monthly GAP analysis across Guess EMEA.
Governance and operational workflows were formalized during rollout, with enforcement of European HR procedures in branches, a structured job description and slotting process, and coordination with Global HR and external service providers to keep HR technology aligned with operational needs. The project leader role included change control for payroll and people information systems and establishment of salary administration and benefits specifications.
As described by internal HR controlling responsibilities, Oracle PeopleSoft HCM was intended to provide timely and accurate information to staff and managers to assist decision making, and to centralize payroll and compensation data used for forecasting and compliance across European operations.
