In 2014, HarbourVest Partners implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics to provide enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities, aligning the deployment with Analytics and BI requirements for a central Data Warehouse. The project centered on production reporting and ETL engineering to feed a consolidated analytics repository, supporting both ad-hoc and standard report consumption by business stakeholders.
The implementation encompassed core MicroStrategy report and dashboard development using MicroStrategy ONE Analytics, leveraging MicroStrategy schema objects and supporting existing FreeForm SQL based reports. Responsibilities included designing and engineering production ETL processes, developing SSIS packages for data movement, and performance tuning stored procedures used by reports and ETL workloads, as well as resolving production issues related to MicroStrategy upgrades.
Integrations were implemented through SSIS packages that orchestrated data flow to and from staging applications and through a newly developed SSIS outbound feed from the Data Warehouse to separate internal systems. The technical architecture therefore connected MicroStrategy reporting to a centralized Data Warehouse layer, with data ingestion, transformation, and outbound distribution pipelines explicitly implemented.
Operational governance covered development task assignment and environment promotion workflows, with processes created for automation of deployments across environments using the Contiua/Finalbuilder Automation tool. Ongoing responsibilities included supporting existing dashboards, creating new reports per business requirements, and maintaining production stability through fixes and performance tuning.
