IBM Legacy IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2011 2011
In 2011 Henry Bath & Son implemented IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence to provide Analytics and BI capabilities for reporting and decision support across its distribution business. Deployment centralized IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence server components within the company database environment and connected reporting services to the company transactional and analytical data models. The implementation emphasized core IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence capabilities for scheduled reporting, ad hoc analysis, dashboard delivery, report bursting and role based security, with configuration focused on reusable report objects and parameterized report packages. A dedicated SQL DBA and BI Developer maintained, developed and troubleshooted the underlying databases and owned the Cognos solution, performing conceptual design, implementation and modification of data models, controlling database security, and preparing technical documentation and user manuals. Integrations were built directly against internal SQL databases and structured data models to feed the IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence reporting layer, supporting operational reporting requirements across finance, sales support and distribution operations. Governance and operational controls included implemented security procedures to protect databases, documented installation and help materials, a clear escalation point for database and report issues, and delivery of end user training to enforce consistent report usage and access control.
