In 2019, Hogan & Associates Construction implemented Trimble Business Center as its Building Information Modeling platform. The deployment targeted preconstruction estimating and project delivery workflows at the company, aligning the Trimble Business Center installation with existing estimating and takeoff practices used by estimating staff and project engineers.
Trimble Business Center was configured to support model aggregation and constructible model preparation, quantity takeoff and measurement workflows, and survey-to-model reconciliation consistent with Building Information Modeling practices. The implementation emphasized use of model-based takeoffs and integrated measurement tools to streamline the preparation of professional estimate packages and presentation-ready documentation for bids.
Integrations were aligned with the firm’s existing toolset, leveraging data exchange and file interoperability with AutoCAD and REVIT for design import, with Sage/Timberline estimating, PlanSwift, Bid2Win, Tecla, SmartBid and BlueBeam for estimating, takeoff, bid management and markup workflows, and with Microsoft Office for reporting and estimate presentation. These connections established a practical handoff between electronic plans, BIM models, and the company’s estimating and bidding systems.
Governance and process work focused on standardizing model file naming, establishing a central model repository, and defining version control and review workflows to support team collaboration and constructability reviews. The rollout reinforced role-based access and coordinated processes between estimating, project controls and field engineering to align model preparation with the company’s existing estimating and bidding operations.
