In 2021, Hulu implemented OneSource Virtual AP Automation to centralize and scale accounts payable processing, aligning AP Automation with their Workday financial record. The deployment targeted a high-volume invoice environment, roughly 3,000 invoices per month, and resulted in OneSource Virtual processing over 75 percent of Hulu invoices as part of the service model.
OneSource Virtual AP Automation was configured to provide enhanced invoice imaging, full invoice coding, and Workday fulfillment services, enabling automated invoice capture, coding, and exception handling workflows. The service-first approach removed the need for an additional standalone AP software, delivering invoice processing, vendor setup support, and transaction staging directly into the enterprise system of record.
Operational integration centered on Workday, with OneSource Virtual uploading invoice documents and associated email communications into Workday to preserve a single financial system of record tied to HR. Hulu retained existing email aliases to minimize supplier disruption, and OSV communicated items that could not be processed back to internal stakeholders and vendors, preserving end to end traceability.
Governance and rollout included standing weekly enablement meetings, continuous communication between OSV and Hulu AP leadership, and a shift in AP team responsibilities. The internal team of a manager, four staff members, and three contractors moved away from repetitive data entry toward exception resolution, vendor maintenance, monthly reconciliations, and 1099 and 1042 management, reflecting process and role restructuring.
Outcomes explicitly reported include elimination of more than 75 percent of Hulu’s manual data entry processing and a significant reduction in temporary staffing needs, with more invoices entered per day through the AP Automation service. Employees were redeployed to higher value accounting and procurement tasks, while invoice imaging, coding, and Workday fulfillment standardized operational auditability and supplier communication.

The HR Operations Coordinator served as a primary contact point for system-driven screening results and coordinated with Disneys GHRO team during and after the integration period.
Governance encompassed designated HR contacts for screening oversight, routine data integrity audits, working with process owners to resolve screening and data issues, and supporting annual audits and ad hoc process improvement projects. The implementation also intersected with adjacent HR processes, including payroll backup responsibilities, paycheck distribution, federal and state employment reporting, system testing for major changes, and invoice review.
