In 2010, ICT Group developed conversion software to extract and transform financial data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV into a custom made ERP. The engagement targeted ERP Financial data domains and supported core finance and accounting business functions including chart of accounts, general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Microsoft Dynamics NAV served as the definitive source system for transactional and master data in the conversion scope.
The technical design used a staged ETL architecture with an extract layer connecting to Microsoft Dynamics NAV, a mapping and transformation engine enforcing data normalization and business rules, and a staging repository for validation and reconciliation prior to loads into the custom ERP. Functional capabilities implemented in the conversion software included configurable mapping tables for master data, transaction batching for period and historical loads, automated validation routines, and reconciliation reporting to support cutover sequencing. Governance components emphasized data stewardship, scripted test cycles and controlled cutover steps to ensure data integrity during the migration from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to the custom application.
