In 2019 Interfor began a deployment of Oracle Cloud ERP after purchasing Oracle Cloud Financials, initiating a finance modernization program under the ERP Financial category. The effort targets corporate finance functions at the Canada based forest products manufacturer, and Interfor publicly sought an established Project Manager to manage the day to day implementation and roll out during the planning stage.
The implementation scope centers on Oracle Cloud Financials and related Oracle EPM capabilities, covering typical ERP Financial functional areas such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, tax and financial reporting, plus EPM planning and consolidation workflows. Configuration workstreams emphasize chart of accounts design, ledger and subledger configuration, period close automation and intercompany accounting processes to support controllership and FP&A operations.
Architecturally the program is described as a cloud native Oracle Cloud ERP deployment leveraging Oracle SaaS services, with early planning focused on data migration, master data governance and orchestration of test cycles for financial close and statutory reporting. Integration workstreams were scoped to connect the new Oracle Cloud ERP services with Interfor source systems and reporting feeds, and testing and cutover sequencing were planned during the design phase.
Governance and rollout organization centers on a single project manager role to run day to day activities, coordinate configuration and testing, and align finance, controllership and planning stakeholders. The deployment leveraged AppLearn Adopt capabilities to deliver contextual, in-application guidance and adoption workflows that sit alongside target applications to improve frontline employee productivity. Integrations were implemented with Cornerstone and Infor EAM to surface guidance and adoption signals, and the implementation explicitly covered HR and operations teams across the USA and Canada.
The North American rollout deflected more than 14,000 support tickets in nine months and saved over $200,000 in support costs according to the AppLearn success story. Governance focused on centralized adoption content and operational support for HR and operations across Interfor’s USA and Canada operations.
