The head of the integration team is the platform owner for IBM Integration Bus, IBM MQ and AWS API Gateway, and is responsible for managing integration developers along with the personnel and technology budget for these integration solutions. IBM MQ API was provisioned to expose messaging and queuing capabilities into the bank's API Management layer, standardizing how internal applications and services access asynchronous integration flows. Operational support was centralized in ServiceNow to consolidate ad hoc email, instant messaging and phone call workflows into a trackable ticketing process, which improved responsiveness and reduced the risk of missed support items. The implementation is integrated with IBM Integration Bus and AWS API Gateway as part of a broader integration fabric, with the integration team owning development, deployment oversight and runtime monitoring responsibilities. Operational coverage focuses on integration developers and internal application teams that consume APIs and message flows, creating a platform-centric governance model for API Management and messaging services. Development governance and workflow were restructured through adoption of Kanban, explicit work in progress limits informed by Little's Law, and a stop starting, start finishing mindset to reduce multitasking. These process and tooling changes delivered much improved lead times for customers, and ongoing accountability sits with the platform owner for budget, operational decisions and continued stewardship of IBM MQ API within the API Management stack. |
