In 2016, Italian Home for Children implemented Sage Intacct as its core financial system. Sage Intacct, an ERP Financial application, replaced Microsoft Dynamics GP to centralize accounting and reporting for the nonprofit organization with approximately 230 employees in the United States.
The implementation focused on configuring the Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, and institution-level reporting to support multi department budgeting and funder-specific reporting requirements. Functional capabilities were aligned to cash management and forecasting, budgeting and capital improvement budgeting, contract management related to vendor and service agreements, and stewardship reporting used for Board presentations.
Integrations and adjacent systems were established alongside the Sage Intacct rollout, including payroll systems ADP and Paycom, Office 365 productivity tooling, Box.com document storage, and eHana. Operational coverage extended across Finance and Administration, Information Technology which was overseen by the same leadership, human resources as a backup function, facilities, and the teams responsible for state partnerships and funder reporting such as DCF, DMH, EEC, and DPH.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the technical deployment, with the VP of Finance and Administration leading configuration decisions, internal controls, policies and procedures to maintain audit readiness, and oversight of A-133 audit and Uniform Financial Reporting workflows. The program included budgeting and monitoring processes for multi department and funder budgets, ERISA health and pension audit readiness, and development of a finance team of 11 to sustain ongoing operations and reporting.
