In 2019 Jilin University used Precisely MapInfo Pro for Geology and Seismic Data Processing to support mineral exploration research in Jilin Province. A university research group applied the application to preprocess geological maps and to create buffered evidence layers that fed prospectivity mapping workflows.
Precisely MapInfo Pro was used for spatial data conversion, attribute harmonization, vector buffering and export of MapInfo Interchange files which served as standardized inputs to machine-learning based prospectivity models. The work focused on producing reproducible evidence layers within the geoscience research function, embedding processing and export steps into the group’s preprocessing workflow to ensure consistency across study areas, and these prepared evidence layers improved subsequent machine-learning prospectivity models.
