In 2010 Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health implemented ARCHIBUS by Eptura within its Facility Management environment to centralize space and asset data for the Facilities Management Department. The deployment was operated as an Archibus CAFM database system supporting main campus property and leased property inventories, and it was used to capture existing space, renovations, and new construction records.
The implementation emphasized space management and asset management capabilities of ARCHIBUS by Eptura, including tracking floor plan changes, square footage, department usage, room numbers, personnel assignments, and use function codes. Configuration work included maintaining CAD drawing standards, mapping room and department attributes for chargeback computations, and structuring data fields to support monthly and ad hoc reporting workflows.
Operational integration included live use of AutoCAD for drawing creation and updates, Smart Client and Web Central portals for user access and data entry, and routine exports of data from ARCHIBUS to Excel for archival use and downstream reporting. Data flows were centered on input and extraction of department, square footage, room, personnel, and asset records to support space planning, report generation, and administrative cost allocations.
Governance and process changes were administered through ongoing management of the Archibus CAFM database system, regular reviews of construction plans and specifications, and maintenance of CAD and data standards to ensure accurate chargebacks for administrative costs and government grants. The system supported Facilities Management business functions including space planning, construction documentation, asset tracking, and reporting, with controlled workflows for data updates and archival procedures.
