In 2014, KAR Auction Services implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as its core ERP Financial application. The PeopleSoft Technology Services Manager led the program and assumed primary responsibility for platform governance and operational ownership.
The Oracle PeopleSoft ERP deployment focused on core financial modules typical of an ERP Financial implementation, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and financial reporting and period close capabilities. Configuration work emphasized a unified chart of accounts, intercompany accounting controls, and automated close workflows to support centralized financial control.
Operational coverage targeted finance, accounting, treasury, and corporate reporting functions within KAR Auction Services, consolidating transaction processing and month end reporting on the PeopleSoft platform. The implementation provided a single financial system of record to standardize accounting processes and support statutory and management reporting requirements.
Governance was structured under the PeopleSoft Technology Services Manager, who managed application lifecycle processes such as security provisioning, change control, patch management, and phased module rollouts across the finance organization. Training, documentation, and role based access controls were established to align operational workflows with the Oracle PeopleSoft ERP environment.

In 2020, KAR Auction Services deployed Sterling Background Check from Sterling Talent Solutions to centralize BackGround Screening for its Talent Acquisition and HR onboarding workflows. The Sterling Background Check implementation was positioned to support KAR Global and its 17 business units across the United States and Canada, focusing on corporate, customer experience and operations hiring needs.
The deployment configured standard BackGround Screening functional capabilities including identity verification, criminal record checks, employment and education verifications, and drug screening initiation and result review. Sterling Background Check was used to orchestrate screening workflows and status tracking consistent with enterprise background screening processes, and to standardize verification steps across exempt and nonexempt roles such as Accounting, Finance, Customer Service, Marketing, HR, Legal, Supply Chain and Operations.
Integration architecture included direct operational alignment with Workday Recruiting, enabling Talent Acquisition to initiate background checks from requisitions and receive status updates into the HRIS. The HRIS team and Talent Acquisition served as primary operational owners, with the Talent Acquisition organization managing vendor relationships, initiation of checks, and review of screening outcomes for candidates across corporate and business unit hires.
Governance and process changes were formalized through collaborative configuration work with the HRIS team, including creation of screening questionnaires, dispositions and other process controls within Workday Recruiting to enforce consistent candidate flows. The rollout emphasized operational ownership by the Talent Acquisition function and embedded Sterling Background Check into hiring and onboarding workflows to maintain compliance and candidate experience continuity.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2014 | 2018 |
In 2014, KAR Auction Services implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) to centralize reporting, ETL and analytical processing within its Analytics and BI environment. The implementation supported a conversion of operational reporting from PowerBuilder to SQL Server Reporting Services, and established SQL Server Analysis Services as the semantic layer for dimensional and tabular models used by business stakeholders.
The deployment emphasized core Microsoft BI modules, with SSIS used for data integration and ETL orchestration, SSAS for analytical model hosting, and SSRS for enterprise and operational report delivery. Test automation and quality assurance were tightly integrated into the implementation, with automated test scripts developed using QTP, Selenium, Appium, Cucumber and Gherkin to validate web, mobile and backend reporting flows. Continuous integration and continuous delivery practices were established to support regular releases of BI artifacts and automated test suites.
Operational scope covered IT delivery teams and business analysis and quality assurance functions, led by a Project, Business Analysis and Quality Assurance team of 25 responsible for requirements gathering, test planning, functional, regression, integration and user acceptance testing. The program transitioned testing and ALM tools from HP ALM Quality Center to VSTS and Test Manager, and maintained mobile testing and mobile testing automation capabilities as part of end-to-end validation. Workstreams included Business Requirements Documents and Agile stories to align BI development with business needs.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the technical work, with SDLC practices spanning Waterfall, Agile and a move to SAFe Scaled Agile Framework led by project managers and scrum masters. Change management, defect management and traceability matrices were institutionalized, and ISO 9000 compliance was maintained as part of quality governance. Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) was positioned to support ongoing Analytics and BI needs while embedding CI/CD and automated testing into regular operational cadence.
