In 2016 Kofera implemented Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine as a core component of its ML and Data Science Platforms deployment to support model training and testing within its product and campaign workflows. The implementation is explicitly centered on Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine for training and testing machine learning algorithms and sits alongside other Google Cloud Platform services in the company architecture.
Google Compute Engine hosts the company Ruby on Rails web application and provides development, testing and staging environments, as well as compute capacity used for training and testing data for machine learning workflows. Google App Engine runs Kofera’s code for microservices based campaign building and optimization applications deployed to a container based environment, and App Engine is used to clean, transform and select data prior to ingestion into downstream stores. All application services communicate using REST API interfaces to coordinate processing and orchestration across services.
Google Cloud Storage provides object storage for web application asset files, client uploaded datafeeds, archived client reports and serving data for model training. A Cloud SQL database hosts user management, payment transaction records, web application configuration and session data. Cloud Bigtable manages attribute and dimension data, notification records and geographical data, while Cloud DataStore holds campaign builder data, application task status, application error description logs and product category information.
The deployment scope includes application, data processing and machine learning pipelines across dev, test, staging and production environments, with container based microservice deployments on App Engine and compute intensive workloads on Compute Engine. Kofera completed the migration to Google Cloud Platform in February 2017, and the overall architecture centralizes data preparation, storage and ML model training around Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine within the ML and Data Science Platforms stack.
