NextGen Healthcare Legacy NextGen Virtual Visits Patient Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2020 2020
In 2020, La Maestra Community Health Centers deployed NextGen Virtual Visits for Patient Management to sustain access to care during the COVID-19 pandemic. La Maestra, a Federally Qualified Health Center in San Diego, used NextGen Virtual Visits to deliver vital mental health services and to support whole-person care across medical, dental and behavioral services, with approximately 90 percent of providers using virtual visits and a reported 5 percent decrease in no-show rates. The implementation combined NextGen Virtual Visits alongside NextGen Enterprise EHR and the NextGen Behavioral Health Suite, taking advantage of NextGen’s integrated telehealth capabilities to keep scheduling, encounter documentation and care plans within a single vendor ecosystem. Functional modules emphasized telehealth encounter routing, synchronous video consultations, scheduling and patient management workflows, plus behavioral health documentation and care planning to enable coordinated case management across disciplines. Integration architecture prioritized synchronized state between virtual visit sessions and the Enterprise EHR and Behavioral Health Suite so that clinical notes, care plans and appointment status flowed across medical, dental and behavioral services. Operational coverage focused on primary care and mental health services within the FQHC model, with adoption concentrated among clinicians and scheduling staff to maintain visit volumes and continuity of care. Governance and rollout centered on clinical enablement and updating scheduling workflows to route telehealth encounters through NextGen Virtual Visits, aligning clinician documentation and appointment policies with telehealth modalities. The implementation supported continued delivery of behavioral health services during pandemic conditions and enabled integrated Patient Management across the organization.
