In 2003, LawCover implemented Infor SunSystems as its core ERP Financial application. LawCover is a subsidiary of the Law Society of New South Wales that provides professional indemnity insurance to New South Wales law firms, and the Infor SunSystems deployment centralized financial management functions across the insurer's finance and operations teams. Implementation focused on financial modules consistent with ERP Financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management, and was executed using both Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies. Project teams were organized into small cross-functional groups of four to six developers and two to three business analysts responsible for requirements elicitation, iteration planning, documenting functional specifications, and delivering test strategies and test plans.
The Infor SunSystems implementation included integrations with external payment rails such as merchant credit card processing and BPAY, and it supported automated interfaces with premium funders including Macquarie Pacific, Westpac, and Hunter, as well as reporting feeds to Power BI. Operational governance incorporated work item management using TFS, coordinated system testing and user acceptance testing, and the development and updating of IT policies, release notes, training materials, and as-is and to-be process documentation. Core business functions impacted were finance, billing and premium funding operations, and reporting and analytics, with ongoing responsibilities covering communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and multi-project coordination across LawCover's IT and business teams.
