In 2025, Lawson Grains implemented EmploymentHero Compliance to centralize HR operations and compliance across its agricultural business. EmploymentHero Compliance is deployed as the companys HR Compliance platform to unify recruitment, onboarding, payroll configuration, certifications and visa checks.
Lawson Grains operational footprint spans Western Australia and New South Wales, with a central HR team based in Albury supporting more than 110 permanent employees across 12 sites and a seasonal workforce that grows to about 220 during harvest. The deployment addressed end to end HR needs from requisition to onboarding, performance review administration, licence and certification tracking, and payroll processing for both permanent and seasonal staff.
The implementation leverages EmploymentHero Compliances recruitment module and centralised ATS workflow, including configurable screening questions, an applicant tracking dashboard and automated requisition approval notifications. Payroll configuration included tags and pay conditions tailored for agricultural pay structures, with custom handling for truck drivers paid per kilometre and nonstandard timesheet scenarios. Learning management and certifications are configured in the platform to host SOPs, custom training, licence tracking and expiry notifications, and the built in VEVO work eligibility check is used for international seasonal hires.
Operational integrations are explicit within the ATS, the system automatically posts approved job adverts to SEEK and the company website, while notifications and a central candidate dashboard replace the previous shared HR inbox. Governance was restructured through formalised requisition approvals and notification workflows, a payroll officer led the pay condition and tag configuration during rollout, and managers now use profile level expiry alerts and LMS access to manage compliance locally across sites.
Outcomes reported in the case study are concrete, recruitment administration was reduced by up to 80 percent and approved requisitions can be published in under five minutes via the ATS. Certification expiry alerts removed spreadsheet tracking, platform engagement increased among employees and managers, and ongoing vendor support and built in help tools such as HeroAI are cited as part of operational adoption.
