In 2022, Logisan implemented Avast Business to provide centralized Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) across its IT estate. The deployment at the 30 employee Italian distribution firm places Avast Business as the core endpoint protection tool for Windows Server 2012 through 2019 hosts and employee workstations, with the full application name Avast Business used for agent provisioning and console management.
The implementation emphasized typical EDR capabilities including centralized policy enforcement, agent-based detection and response, and remote remediation workflows, configured to align with the companys VMware cloud topology and mixed virtual and physical server footprint. Avast Business agents were managed alongside existing infrastructure components, operationally coexisting with VMware Cloud Director for VM lifecycle management, Fortigate firewall for network perimeter control, Netgear and HP switching fabric, Asterisk FreePBX for VoIP, Office 365 user services, and Synology NAS storage.
Operational ownership was consolidated under the Junior Systems Engineer and IT Manager role, who performed system administration for VMware cloud, managed Windows Server policies, DNS and DHCP, coordinated IT supplier companies, and handled Freshdesk ticketing for level 1 and 2 support. Governance centered on endpoint policy administration, agent rollout and ongoing monitoring within the existing operational processes, with MySQL query work and rack connectivity tasks retained by the internal IT function to support incident investigation and remediation workflows.
