In 2013, Americanas deployed QlikView as its Analytics and BI platform to centralize operational reporting and KPI monitoring across retail operations. The QlikView implementation was positioned to serve freight, logistics, transportation, orders and customer service analytics, and it was used by multidisciplinary teams including data engineers, data scientists, software architects, programmers and business analysts.
QlikView implementations focused on configurable KPI dashboards and analytical applications for supply chain optimization, assortment allocation, routing and network design. The deployment emphasized scripted data models and ETL pipelines to populate operational dashboards that tracked SAC, freight, logistics and order metrics, aligning BI reporting with quantitative models developed by the analytics organization.
Integrations reflected the broader data platform architecture, ingesting data from relational databases and NoSQL stores and operating within a Cloudera based big data environment. QlikView consumed data exposed via web services built in Java and Python, and worked alongside graph databases such as Titan and Neo4j as well as data stores like Cassandra and Solr to support advanced supply chain and recommendation analytics.
Governance and rollout were driven by an internal analytics leadership model, with a head of BI squad and managers responsible for architecture, infrastructure and tooling selection. QlikView was one of the BI front end tools used to mature analytics capability across supply chain, marketing optimization and product engineering, and the program included training, partnership activity with universities and establishment of data pipeline and model management practices.
