In 2021 Loreto College migrated from Ascender Preceda Payroll to Synergetic Payroll, centralizing the school payroll function under a single application for the College in Australia. The implementation targeted the full-cycle Payroll requirement for all staff, with fortnightly processing governed by the Payroll Officer and final release controlled by the Business Manager.
Synergetic Payroll was configured to support core Payroll capabilities including employee master data management, new employee onboarding, updating leave records, managing FTE status, step and year level maintenance, and employee termination processing. The system was used for fortnightly collation, timesheet validation, detailed data entry, payroll calculation and pay run processing, plus routine reconciliations and end of year procedures consistent with the College enterprise agreement.
Operational workflows implemented in Synergetic Payroll include transmission of payroll to the bank fortnightly, monthly reconciliation and processing of superannuation and other deductions, monitoring and processing of step increases and back pays, and management of allowances and additions. The Payroll Officer also handled documentation workflows for Temporary Relief Teachers, interactions with the Catholic Education Office and CCI Workers Compensation, and regular checks to ensure data integrity in the payroll system.
Governance and process controls were formalized around the Payroll Officer role, with procedures to allow adequate time for payroll checking and Business Manager release, monthly reconciliation of payroll clearing accounts, and collaborative quality control with the Director of Staff. The implementation emphasized compliance with contracts, the Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation while maintaining payroll data accuracy within Synergetic Payroll.
