In 2012, Lumos Insurance implemented FOURPOINT Billing as an in-house Insurance Billing Administration application to support debt protection and cancellation coverage workflows. The FOURPOINT Billing system was deployed as a software and hardware stack operated by the company, and it is used to underwrite financial institution customers, track loan payments by financial institution, and generate monthly billing for a percentage of loan payments received by the financial institution, aligning Lumos Insurance FOURPOINT Billing Insurance Billing Administration with core billing and underwriting functions.
The implementation centered on functional modules for underwriting of debt protection risks, loan payment tracking by financial institution, and recurring billing and invoicing for the CLIP debt protection program, with operational scope covering relationships with financial institutions and customer-level coverage such as death, disability, and accidental death and dismemberment. Governance notes in the implementation record show that certain risks under the CLIP program were ceded to Plateau Insurance Company effective January 1, 2014, while other CLIP risks remained with the company, and the FOURPOINT system of software and hardware provided the transactional and ledger-level processing required to issue CLIP policies, record premium flows, and bill partner financial institutions on a monthly cycle.
