In 2019, Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod implemented Blackbaud Grantmaking to manage grants, applications, payments and communications across its national network. The U.S. deployment began in fall 2019 and was oriented to centralized grant intake and award processing for national and regional programs.
Blackbaud Grantmaking was configured as the core Grant Management platform, supporting application intake, award administration, payment scheduling and automated communication workflows, with tracking and reporting functions used for grant lifecycle management. The implementation emphasized standardization of application forms, approval routing and payment disbursement processes to accelerate relief fund administration.
The system was deployed together with Blackbaud CRM, enabling synchronized donor and constituent records between Blackbaud Grantmaking and constituent relationship management. Operational scope covered national programs and U.S. region relief efforts, impacting fundraising, grant administration and program communications functions.
The combined Blackbaud Grantmaking and Blackbaud CRM deployment enabled a rapid COVID-19 relief response, helping the Synod raise and award funds quickly, contributing to more than $1.5M raised for COVID relief and nearly 600 grants awarded by June 2020. Blackbaud Grantmaking functioned as the primary Grant Management system for tracking applications, awards and payments during the relief rollout.
