In 2016, Magyar Kozut engaged USU Software Asset Management's License Compliance Service to prepare for an unexpected SAP license audit, one year after the agency had implemented SAP. The engagement positioned USU Software Asset Management as the operational toolset for Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM) activities focused on SAP license compliance, audit readiness, and negotiation support.
The implementation was delivered as a service rather than an on-premises installation, USU SAP and SAM experts performed contract and license balance analysis, and the service produced a simulation of recommended license types against existing SAP Named and Professional User licenses. USU Software Asset Management compared existing SAP license types with simulated recommendations, and an SAP consultant reviewed the outputs with Magyar Kozut to translate technical license classifications into negotiation options.
Operational coverage centered on SAP licensing across the organization, leveraging high quality SAP data after one year of SAP use to deliver rapid, customized results without an initial SAM tool rollout. The project was executed with local support from LicenseCore in Hungary, which provided on-the-ground SAM services including one-time license compliance evaluation and audit defense expertise drawn from vendor-side experience.
Governance and process outcomes included strengthened negotiation capability for IT procurement and license management, the ability to propose alternative licensing models to SAP, and a documented reduction in license costs of 7 percent as a direct result of the analysis. The service-based approach allowed Magyar Kozut to use the SAP audit defensively and commercially, while deferring an immediate full SAM deployment until further strategic decisions were made.
