Texas Computer Cooperative Legacy TCC Ascender Business System Education ERP ERP Services and Operations n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, Malakoff Independent School District implemented the TCC Ascender Business System as its Education ERP. The TCC Ascender Business System from Texas Computer Cooperative was used to centralize student and special education administrative workflows across the district. Configuration focused on student information management and PEIMS reporting for SPED, 504 and Dyslexia programs, with capability to upload records, capture physician orders and consent for disclosure, and maintain OT and PT service logs. District staff used Ascender to enter PEIMS data for incoming and existing SPED, 504 and Dyslexia students, to generate verification reports every nine weeks, and to produce Homeless, GT and Foster rosters for periodic verification. The deployment operated in parallel with eSPED, with staff running verification reports from both Ascender and eSPED to reconcile PEIMS data and documentation. Operational coverage included the Special Education secretary functions district wide, supporting teachers, aides and contracted staff, and included routine printing of Procedural Safeguards, Medicaid forms and ARD documentation for meetings. Governance and process controls were formalized around a nine week verification cadence, checklist based review of ARD, FIE, REED and revision paperwork prior to mailing and docusharing, and maintenance of logs for transfers, withdrawals, physician consents, requisitions and master card usage. The implementation embedded procurement tracking, ordering of materials and subscriptions, and contact and emergency information maintenance into Ascender aligned administrative workflows.
