In 2015, Medlab Pathology implemented MYOB AccountRight as its ERP Financial solution. The deployment centralized core financial and payroll functions for a healthcare provider with more than 600 employees operating across New South Wales and Queensland, establishing a single system of record for pay calculations, statutory remittances and labour reporting.
MYOB AccountRight was configured to support fortnightly payroll execution and ongoing maintenance of employee pay records, including modules and workflows for superannuation processing on a monthly cadence, fortnightly PAYG reporting submitted via Single Touch Payroll to the ATO, WorkCover and Paid Parental Leave handling, and payroll tax calculation and lodgement to OSR NSW and OSR QLD. The implementation also covered payroll-driven reimbursements, calculation of termination entitlements during off boarding, and the preparation of accrual and reversal journal entries for labour, consultants, payroll tax and long service or annual leave.
The solution was integrated with the organisation’s Cloud Payroll software and the ADI time and attendance system to ingest time and leave data and to reconcile labour hours for payroll and cost reporting. Operational coverage included payroll and finance teams, HR support functions, and department heads who received Working FTE, Leave FTE and Overtime reports after each payroll cycle to monitor labour costs and leave liability.
Governance and process controls were formalized around award interpretation and Fair Work compliance, fortnightly payroll query response SLAs, statutory remittance processes, and a payroll SOP that is reviewed every three months. The payroll role retained responsibility for onboarding documentation, issuing employment contracts and variations, drafting HR correspondence for disciplinary and termination actions, and running payroll-related projects aimed at process improvement and labour cost management.

CloudPayroll configuration emphasized core payroll processing, award interpretation and Fair Work compliance, Single Touch Payroll submissions to the ATO, superannuation processing on a monthly cadence, PAYG withholding remittance, WorkCover and Paid Parental Leave processing, and monthly payroll tax calculations for OSR NSW and OSR QLD. The implementation also covered leave management, calculation of termination entitlements, processing of staff reimbursements through payroll, and automated preparation of accrual and reversal journal entries for labour, consultants, payroll tax and leave liabilities.
Integrations tied CloudPayroll to the ADI time and attendance system to ingest labour hours and to MYOB as the finance database for employee pay records and journal exports. Operational coverage spanned HR, payroll and finance functions, supplying Working FTE, Leave FTE and Overtime reports to department heads after each fortnightly payroll to support labour cost oversight.
Governance and process controls were formalised through a payroll Standard Operating Procedure reviewed every three months, documented onboarding and offboarding workflows with compliance checks, and designated responsibilities for timely query resolution and award interpretations. The rollout embedded recurring schedules for fortnightly payroll runs, monthly superannuation processing and statutory lodgements to align operational cadence with regulatory obligations.
