In 2022 Merz Germany implemented TRUMPF Oseon as a Manufacturing Execution System at its sheet metal production site to digitize production and material flow, to provide mobile shop floor apps, and to integrate with an automated STOPA warehouse. The TRUMPF Oseon deployment addressed production control and material logistics for bending pool operations and thin sheet processing within the plant.
Implementation focused on production control modules and material flow management capabilities native to a Manufacturing Execution System, including shop floor execution, mobile operator apps for job and material handling, and orchestration of bending-pool scheduling. Configuration emphasized digital tracking of work orders and material movement to make bending-pool management and part flow transparent to production supervisors and machine operators.
The Oseon installation was integrated with an automated STOPA warehouse and with TRUMPF automation and new machines to create a continuous material handling loop between storage, production cells, and press brake lines. Architecture centered on real time exchange between shop floor apps, machine controllers, and the warehouse control layer, enabling automated material feeds and coordinated job sequencing at the sheet metal cells.
Governance and rollout combined the MES configuration with automation commissioning and new machine onboarding, aligning production workflows and bending pool processes to the Oseon control layer. According to TRUMPF the deployment, together with automation and new machines, helped Merz roughly triple its thin sheet daily throughput and made material flows and bending pool management significantly more transparent and efficient.
