In 2021 Microdrones implemented SysAid IT Asset Management, deploying centralized inventory and lifecycle control across Hardware Asset Management (HAM),Software Asset Management (SAM),IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management. Microdrones is a Germany based multinational provider of commercial drone systems and services, and the implementation targeted an environment that had previously been decentralized across offices in Canada, Germany, the United States, China and France. The SysAid IT Asset Management deployment consolidated automated asset discovery and reconciliation for workstations and servers, and established a central dashboard that surfaces device status, location and upgrade needs. Functional capabilities brought online included hardware lifecycle tracking, software license visibility and SaaS spend monitoring, together with configuration of asset depreciation and analytics to support future planning. SysAid was used with its built in ITSM to link asset records to incident and service workflows, enabling contextual ticketing and a planned self service portal for end users to submit incidents. Operational coverage was global, managed by a central IT function led by the Global IT Manager, and the platform is being extended to include mobile devices, printers and network equipment as part of continuing rollout. Governance was centralized through a single source of truth and a central dashboard that allowed the IT team to identify outdated assets and schedule upgrades or replacements, this restructured asset ownership and standardized reporting across business units. Processes were configured to provide continuous monitoring and to feed asset status into service management and reporting workflows. As stated by Microdrones, the implementation delivered a clear worldwide snapshot of company assets and enabled corrective actions, operations improved and incidents were reduced, users reported higher satisfaction and the IT team gained time saving in asset management. SysAid IT Asset Management now provides Microdrones with ongoing visibility into workstation and server infrastructure and a foundation for further automation.
