In 2015, Millar Western implemented Epicor LumberTrack. Millar Western is Alberta's largest privately held softwood lumber producer with three high speed, high efficiency sawmills in northern Alberta, and the project represents a Manufacturing ERP deployment at a mid market vertically integrated wood products manufacturer.
The company adopted Epicor LumberTrack largely out of the box, configuring the system to unify accounting, sales, mill shipping, transportation, and sales administration workflows with LumberTrack business processes. Implementation emphasis has been on invoice processing and automation, document generation for customs clearance, month end reconciliation, and expanded operational reporting through the Epicor LumberTrack application.
Operational integration included bringing new operations online, the team reports that Epicor LumberTrack enabled rapid addition and integration of the Fox Creek sawmill into existing transaction flows, and the solution supports cross site transaction processing across multiple mill locations. The LumberTrack solution's EDI interface to customs brokers is used for US customs clearance and export reporting, linking commercial documents, shipping manifests, and accounting entries.
