In 2018, Monsoon Accessorize deployed Alight Payroll (ex NGA Payroll) to centralize payroll processing across its UK operations. The Alight Payroll deployment covered Payroll activities for approximately 500 Head Office employees and more than 1,000 Retail staff under a HR Shared Services operating model.
Configuration emphasized core payroll processing, pay run scheduling, statutory reporting and payroll event handling for hires, leavers, maternity, absence and internal changes, reflecting standard Payroll category capabilities. Payslip production, cutoffs and monthly payroll deadlines were administered by the HR Shared Services team leader and two HR coordinators, with KPI driven run governance and documented procedures.
Operational payroll workflows coexisted with the HR administration tools in use at Monsoon, including ResourceLink, Harbour, Retail-Java, Workforce Management, MyView and Microsoft Office, with data handoffs and manual inputs managed by the HR team for time and attendance and employee lifecycle events. The deployment supported end to end payroll processing across Head Office and retail estate without specification of external system integrators.
Governance and rollout were led from HR Shared Services, including reshaping processes, identifying risks and producing implementation plans, training and UAT for adjacent HR projects such as a new holiday booking system. Quarterly visits to the Northampton distribution centre maintained alignment with a standalone HR administrator and ensured payroll related administration practices were consistent across sites.

Zendesk Chat functions as the conversational layer within Monsoon Accessorize digital storefronts, enabling real time customer engagement and onsite assistance for browsing and checkout interactions.
In July 2020 the company delivered a broader ecommerce platform program with Astound Commerce that integrated Zendesk Chat with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, existing CRM platforms, and order management systems to reinforce single customer view, marketing attribution, on site personalization, click and collect, and ship from store workflows. Zendesk Chat was deployed alongside visual commerce technology from Curalate and frictionless payments from Cybersource, forming a combined customer engagement and conversion stack aligned to omnichannel retail operations.
Operational coverage extended across global storefronts with local currency pricing and local delivery options, with Zendesk Chat embedded across mobile and desktop touchpoints to support customer service, assisted selling, and conversion flows. Governance and rollout were coordinated as part of the commerce program, with Astound Commerce providing consultancy and technical delivery during the final stages of the project under lockdown conditions.
The combined platform including Zendesk Chat contributed to the reported post go live ecommerce outcomes, where mobile traffic rose 18 percent, bounce rate fell 12 percent, and conversion increased 16 percent, while the chat capability reinforced customer engagement and onsite assistance as part of the end to end commerce architecture.
