Sage Legacy Sage 300 ERP (formerly Accpac) ERP Financial ERP n/a 2017 2017
In 2017, Morris Communications Company implemented Sage 300 ERP (formerly Accpac) as its ERP Financial platform for Construction and Real Estate financials. The deployment was positioned to provide core accounting functions across the companys property and construction units while coexisting with publishing and advertising systems used elsewhere in the business. Morris Communications replaced a named SAP ERP solution with Sage 300 ERP for financial management, aligning the implementation to standard ERP Financial capabilities such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job or project costing typical for construction and real estate accounting. Configuration work focused on financial module alignment to construction and real estate chart of accounts and transaction workflows, and support responsibilities included custom ad hoc and recurring reporting for finance stakeholders. The Sage 300 ERP environment operated alongside other operational systems that the IT team supported, including Timberscan, Elan, Breeze, and the Datafest AdSystem, and it was integrated into a broader HR and payroll landscape using ADP for human resources and payroll. The program also included infrastructure work, notably creation of an on premise data center and coordination of a rapid migration of more than 100 servers and three SAP ERP landscapes from third party hosting, which established the hosting baseline for the Sage 300 ERP instances. Governance and operational support were restructured in parallel, moving IT support from a joint venture model to an outsourced model with onshore team leads and offshore shared resources to manage application support and maintenance. Rollout activity was executed as part of a broader portfolio transition program that moved affected financial, circulation, advertising, production, and digital systems to acquirers within defined windows, with the program reporting no operational impact during the six month and twelve month transfer periods. The implementation narrative centers on replacing SAP ERP with Sage 300 ERP for ERP Financial processes, integrating with ADP and existing publishing systems, and embedding new hosting and support governance to sustain ongoing operations.
