NEPON implemented NEC Connexive in 2012 as an agricultural ICT cloud service for greenhouse farmers in Japan, deploying NEC Connexive as the core IoT Platform to centralize environmental sensor telemetry and operational data. The deployment focused on cloud-hosted data collection from distributed greenhouse sensors, enabling centralized visibility and near real time monitoring of microclimate variables across sites.
The implementation configured sensor data ingestion, time series storage, visualization dashboards, threshold based alerting and communication modules to support grower collaboration and operational decision making. NEC Connexive functioned as the IoT Platform for device data management, dashboarding, alert orchestration and collaborative messaging to make field observations more quantitative and actionable.
Operational coverage targeted greenhouse production and farm management functions, with the service used by growers across Japan to standardize monitoring and share knowledge. Governance and operational workflow changes emphasized shared data views and alerting workflows to align responses to environmental deviations and to make agronomic knowledge more explicit and transferable among growers.
NEPON and NEC collaborated on the offering, and the NEC Connexive based solution launched in 2012 reportedly helped reduce production and management costs while making farming knowledge more quantitative and shareable across growers.
