In 2022 Nolato decided to implement IFS ERP under the ERP Financial category to modernize operations at its Polish manufacturing branch. The program followed a corporate mandate to deploy IFS version 9 with an explicit roadmap to upgrade to IFS Cloud in the future, and Novacura was engaged as the implementation partner after an earlier attempt in 2022 did not reach completion. The project kickoff occurred in the second half of 2023 and the system went live in June 2024, covering the Polish production site and aligning the site with Nolato Group reporting requirements.
The IFS ERP implementation encompassed core modules including finance, warehouse, purchasing, sales, and production, with configuration work focused on tax compliance and local reporting standards. The team emphasized a process-first methodology, mapping Nolato Poland business processes and adapting IFS 9 configurations rather than forcing standard workflows, and the implementation included opening balance setup and initial data import into IFS ERP. Preparatory work included user training to reconcile differing terminologies from the previous local database and to establish daily monitoring workflows for the finance organization.
Data migration activity involved extracting and preparing records from an outdated, locally developed database from a Szczecin-based vendor, and the project required extensive data cleansing and terminology alignment before import into IFS ERP. The deployment was designed to enable compatibility and information flow across Nolato Group entities, and the team planned future warehouse enhancements including a staged move from manual inventory tracking to electronic documentation using low-cost smartphones initially and later barcode scanners.
Novacura led the implementation and provided hands-on consultancy, running focused workshops, incremental task execution, and post go live support by email and phone. The partner also worked with Nolato to resolve issues requiring coordination with the IFS software provider, and governance included iterative validation of migrated data, controlled cutover for opening balances, and training to support the organization through month end closing processes. The implementation approach prioritized operational continuity while building a long term development path for subsequent IFS Cloud migration.
Post-implementation outcomes reported by Nolato included streamlined processes, reduced manual data entry, lower reliance on paper documentation, and improved finance team workflows with more frequent, near real time visibility into business metrics. Employees reported reduced repetitive tasks and an uplift in productivity and morale, and ongoing Novacura support continued to address complex items such as month end closing and future warehouse automation planning.
