| UNIT4 | Legacy | Unit4 Business World | ERP Financial | ERP | LGSS | 2005 | 2007 |
In 2005 Northampton Borough Council implemented Unit4 Business World, an ERP Financial application, to extend its AGRESSO business information system. The 2005 deployment added HR and payroll modules with payroll scheduled for spring 2005 and HR following in the final quarter, establishing a single platform for financial and people processes across the council.
The implementation configured Unit4 Business World to include payroll processing and HR case management capabilities, incorporating self service features planned from 2006 for payslip viewing, timesheet entry and personal information updates over the web. The rollout consolidated payroll and separate Access databases used for absence, sickness and training reporting, and brought e-recruitment and employee management information into the core business system.
Operational integration included electronic month end budget report distribution, web requisitioning and electronic invoice authorisation and approval tied into the financial ledger and approval workflows. The deployment covered council finance, HR and payroll operations, and extended information access to managers and Council members through web services enabled by Unit4 Business World.
Governance and delivery were supported by implementation partner LGSS, with a phased rollout plan sequencing payroll first then HR, and a plan to enable employee self service in the subsequent year. Northampton Borough Council reported improved information sharing, streamlined processes, reduced duplicate data entry and time and cost savings from using AGRESSO Business World, reinforcing the council one version of the truth approach to financial and HR data.
