In 2013 Northumbrian Water implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform across HR and finance functions. The deployment targeted core human resources and financial process consolidation, positioning Oracle E-Business Suite for integrated payroll and finance operations within the utility.
The implementation included Oracle E-Business Suite modules for HR, Payroll, Time and Labor, Workflow, Learning Management, Self-Service, and Oracle Finance. A named super-user role executed cross-system administration and operational configuration on HR and in-house systems, supporting day to day payroll runs, time capture, learning administration, and employee self-service configuration within Oracle E-Business Suite.
Integrations and coexisting systems were explicitly managed, with Kronos used for time capture and Lumesse Talentlink used for talent management, alongside in-house applications. These integrations linked Time and Labor to Kronos and linked talent workflows to Lumesse Talentlink, maintaining transactional continuity between HR operational systems and Oracle Finance for payroll accounting.
Governance centered on a super-user model and Workflow module driven approval routing, enabling centralized change control and operational ownership within HR and payroll teams. The configuration emphasized role based administration, workflow orchestration for approvals, and ongoing super-user stewardship across Oracle E-Business Suite and connected HR systems.

In 2013, Northumbrian Water implemented Oracle E-Business Suite HRMS. The deployment targeted Core HR capabilities on the R12 platform and centered on a bespoke HR Performance and Appraisal system alongside the Oracle eBusiness Suite HR and Payroll module for the Northumbrian Water Group.
The implementation covered planning, design, development and deployment of the new appraisal workflow, with configuration of custom forms and reports to capture appraisal data. Development work included BI reports supporting performance bonus calculations, standardization of coding standards for the bespoke appraisal components, and performance tuning of new and existing PL/SQL and application logic.
Delivery activities documented in the engagement show close collaboration with the BA Group and end users to define requirements and resolve functional issues, and regular coordination with the DBA team to release patches and updates on R12. | IBM | Legacy | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 Northumbrian Water began the Intelligent Asset Management Programme and deployed IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform. The implementation focused on delivering a new Asset Management System configured for asset lifecycle management, integrated planning and scheduling, and a document repository, using a DevOps and Agile delivery approach.
The IBM Maximo deployment included functional modules for asset management, planning and scheduling, document management and support for three mobile applications to enable field operations. Design work encompassed user research, personas, impact mapping, user stories, acceptance criteria and test cases, with interface definition and data mapping specified for each integration point.
Integrations explicitly implemented as part of the E2E solution included the Oracle Scheduler OFS and a SharePoint document repository, and the architecture supported synchronous and asynchronous interfaces to three mobile applications. Operational coverage extended across Northumbrian Water Group teams responsible for asset maintenance, planning and field execution, with the solution designed for cross-team collaboration and end to end testing.
Governance and delivery were run through an Agile framework, with a dedicated Agile Business Analyst and Scrum Master managing sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint boards and burndown reporting. The role also managed the supplier relationship with IBM as system integration partner, coordinated defect lifecycle management through E2E testing and handled inter-team dependencies and impediment removal.
Deliverables and achievements stated by the programme included successful delivery of a brand new platform for asset management, planning and scheduling, document management and three mobile applications, effective resolution of critical and blocker defects with tracked testing, and active management of the IBM supplier relationship to help resolve commercial issues and secure value for Northumbrian Water Group.
