| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Cloud ERP Accounts Payable | AP Automation | ERP | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016, Office for National Statistics migrated to an Oracle Cloud Solution, implementing Oracle Cloud ERP Accounts Payable as its AP Automation component. The organisation operates Oracle Cloud SaaS and reports running release version 20A, establishing a cloud-based ERP architecture that centralises payables and adjacent financial services across the enterprise.
The implementation includes Oracle modules Core HCM, Time and Labour, General Ledger, Payables, Receivables, Cash Management, iExpenses and Procurement, with Oracle Cloud ERP Accounts Payable providing invoice-to-payment controls, supplier relationship payment workflows, expense integration and general ledger posting orchestration. Configuration covers payables processing and procurement touchpoints, and the functional footprint spans finance, procurement and HR processes where supplier invoicing and employee expenses intersect.
Architecturally, the ONS environment is cloud-first with most services delivered as SaaS, while a subset of applications runs on Oracle 12c databases that the organisation planned to migrate to Oracle 18c by March 2021. The ONS pays Oracle through a purchasing framework with SCC listed as the reseller, and it maintains third-party support relationships with Accenture and Namos Solutions. Oracle Cloud receives mandatory quarterly updates, a cadence the organisation cited as resulting in six updates over an 18-month window, and the ONS holds a time-and-materials support contract with renewal noted in April 2022.
Contract governance is handled through the ONS commercial management channel, with enquiries directed to ons.contract.management@ons.gov.uk and staff contact details withheld under FOI provisions. The quarterly update model and the SaaS delivery imply a regular release management and change control posture for AP Automation and adjacent ERP modules, aligning ongoing configuration governance with Oracle Cloud upgrade cycles.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Cloud HCM | Core HR | HCM | Accenture | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019 the Office for National Statistics implemented Oracle Cloud HCM as part of a broader Oracle Cloud ERP and HCM suite, establishing the first complete Oracle Cloud deployment in central government to manage HR and finance functions. The deployment is explicitly positioned inside ONS’s wider transformation programme, and the Oracle Cloud HCM implementation targets Core HR functions across the organisation.
Oracle Cloud HCM was configured to deliver core personnel administration and workforce management capabilities, with standard Core HR functionality such as employee records, workforce administration, employee self-service and talent workflow automation embedded in the SaaS configuration. The implementation emphasized configuration over customization, aligning cloud-based HR processes with ONS corporate strategy for efficiency and service improvement.
The Oracle Cloud HCM rollout was delivered in partnership with Certus Solutions, and Accenture is recorded as the SI/VAR engagement for the programme. The HCM deployment was integrated with the Oracle ERP Cloud finance components to provide a unified cloud platform for HR and finance, and ONS positioned the platform to be reusable by other government departments through knowledge sharing and platform governance.
Governance and rollout focused on process standardization and peer support across departments, with ONS leadership stating the move away from an outdated system toward cloud-based technology. The programme included a stated expectation of delivering over £1m of efficiencies for ONS by 2019 to 2020, and ONS publicly documented sharing implementation experience to support other government users of the platform.

In 2018 the Office for National Statistics deployed Alteryx One Platform to consolidate data preparation and analytic orchestration within its Analytics and BI estate. The implementation of Alteryx One Platform established a central analytics layer to support operational reporting, KPI generation, and multi‑stream decision support across the organisation.
The deployment focused on Alteryx One Platform capabilities for data ingestion, transformation, workflow automation, and spatial data handling consistent with Analytics and BI functional needs. The platform was configured to process and blend datasets from Salesforce CRM, Excel spreadsheets, and spatial sources used with ArcGIS, and to prepare curated datasets for consumption by Tableau analytics and visualization workflows.
Operational scope covered multi-function work streams including recruitment activities, service delivery monitoring, and stakeholder reporting, with daily MI produced seven days a week to track SLAs and KPIs. Governance was formalised through SLA and KPI review processes, quality management, and service auditing routines to maintain consistency of MI and to surface trends to senior stakeholders for strategic decision making.
The Office for National Statistics Alteryx One Platform Analytics and BI implementation supported the production of management information, pattern identification, and data visualisation used to inform recommendations and to align internal teams with client SLAs. Ongoing use of Alteryx One Platform enabled cross-stream communication of findings and operationalised analytics practices across analytics, recruitment, and service management functions.
