IBM Legacy IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation Application Lifecycle Management ITSM n/a 2018 2018
In 2018 OMA (Officine Meccaniche Aeronautiche) implemented IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation as its Application Lifecycle Management solution to centralize requirements activities for airborne electromechanical actuator programs. The deployment targeted standardization of requirements elicitation, management, validation and documentation across systems engineering workflows for landing gears, steering systems and primary and secondary flight controls. IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation was configured to provide structured requirements authoring, traceability and baselining, review and approval workflows, and verification linkages aligned with Application Lifecycle Management practices. Configuration emphasized formal requirements attributes, version control and audit trails to support HW SW life cycle data and test evidence management, and review cycle automation to maintain specification and test procedure consistency. Operational coverage included a multidisciplinary engineering team of six led by the Chief Project Engineer, supplier and customer interface activities, and technical oversight of qualification and certification phases. The engineering organization used MATLAB Simulink with Stateflow for development of control and monitoring logic, while requirements governance and validation artifacts were managed in IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation to document traceability through design and verification. Governance centered on centralized requirements ownership, formalized design review meetings and structured artifacts for Statements Of Work, supplier oversight and deliverable approval. The implementation reinforced systems engineering processes across development, integration, verification and validation workflows and provided a single authoritative repository for requirements and related HW SW lifecycle artifacts.
