In 2018, OriginTrail implemented Oracle Blockchain Platform through a technology partnership with Oracle to integrate the Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service with the OriginTrail network, a program coordinated across several Oracle offices in Southeast Europe. The deployment positioned Oracle Blockchain Platform, a Blockchain Platform based on Hyperledger Fabric, as the enterprise-grade development and integration layer for OriginTrail’s protocol to enable trusted data sharing across supply chain participants.
The technical architecture centers on using Oracle Blockchain Platform as a Hyperledger Fabric based network and development environment, linked to the OriginTrail protocol which acts as a neutral interoperability layer. Implementation work focused on connecting Oracle enterprise software and cloud services, including ERP systems and Oracle SaaS and PaaS services, to the OriginTrail network so that distributed ledger entries and proofs could be exchanged between enterprise applications and the OriginTrail distributed protocol.
Integration scope emphasized multi-organizational supply chain use cases, with operational coverage spanning OriginTrail’s network participants and Oracle offices in Southeast Europe. The effort targets interoperability between different DLT technologies, explicitly Hyperledger Fabric and public chain approaches referenced by OriginTrail, positioning OriginTrail as a bridge to enable data exchange between Oracle systems and other blockchain networks.
Governance and rollout centered on tight technical integration and joint engineering to enable customers already using Oracle products to more easily adopt OriginTrail’s solutions, and to simplify Oracle system connectivity with various blockchains. The initiative is framed as enabling easier data sharing and greater interoperability in multi-enterprise supply chains by linking Oracle Blockchain Platform and the OriginTrail protocol.
