In 2016, ORIX United States implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) to deliver structured reporting and OLAP support for HR and budgeting functions. This Analytics and BI deployment focused on operational HR reporting and a financial budgeting prototype to support the Budget Reporting Group and HR IT team.
The engagement produced approximately 40 daily and 12 monthly SSRS reports built on top of a SQL Server data warehouse. An ETL framework was implemented using SSIS to maintain historical data and perform insert and update operations into the data warehouse, enabling daily refresh of HR data and SSRS reporting. Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) components were applied for report definition, ETL orchestration, and cube modeling.
As part of the scope, a full-functionality Oracle Database to MSBI conversion project was executed, including a complex 2014 financial and budgeting SSAS prototype cube covering modules such as Loans, Facilities and Transactions. The SSAS prototype was extended to support drill-through, actions and MDX calculation items to satisfy nuanced reporting requirements and to replicate portions of existing reporting workflows. Operational coverage included the HR IT team as data stewards and the Budget Reporting Group as primary report consumers.
Governance and rollout proceeded from real-time requirement collection with Budget Reporting Group users to advancing the SSAS cube from solution stage to full production. Implementation activities included designing cube drill-through and action workflows, embedding MDX calculations into SSRS report logic, and operationalizing SSIS ETL packages for historical retention and incremental updates. The delivery produced a production Microsoft BI implementation that unified HR and budget reporting under the Analytics and BI platform at ORIX United States.
