In 2016, Palermo's Pizza implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV as its ERP Financial system. The engagement was an ERP re-implementation focused on consolidating finance and core operational back-office processes for the consumer packaged goods manufacturer.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV was configured to deliver standard ERP Financial capabilities including financial management, inventory control, procurement, and order to cash workflows. The program included a full replacement of the warehouse management system, and the EDI solution RedTail EDI was implemented to handle electronic trading partner connectivity.
The project built integration points between Microsoft Dynamics NAV, RedTail EDI, and two additional systems through minor interfaces to support transaction flow across warehouse, distribution, supply chain, and finance functions. Architecture emphasized application-level integration rather than broad platform changes, keeping the core ERP as the central system of record for financials and inventory.
Governance and rollout were organized around aligning finance, warehouse, and supply chain processes to the new Microsoft Dynamics NAV configuration, with phased delivery of WMS and EDI components to reduce operational disruption. The implementation narrative centers on embedding ERP Financial controls and transaction orchestration across operational sites without introducing external implementation partner references.

| ADP | Legacy | ADP SmartCompliance | Payroll Tax Compliance | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Palermo's Pizza implemented ADP SmartCompliance as its Payroll Tax Compliance platform. The deployment supported complex payroll rhythms, handling weekly, bi weekly and semi monthly payrolls, and centralized tax filing and notice management for multi jurisdiction operations across 15 states. The implementation explicitly covered payroll processing for 500 plus non exempt manufacturing employees, 100 plus non exempt office and sales employees, and 100 plus exempt management employees, in addition to corporate bonus, commission and fringe benefit calculations and annual W2 production.
ADP SmartCompliance was configured to manage payroll tax calculation and electronic filing workflows, pay card administration, tax notice uploads and downloads of completed tax filings, and the production of payroll related reporting used for month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. The solution supported recording eligible compensation for the Principal 401k recordkeeper, processing payroll deductions for the Principal 401k, and administering reimbursable expenses routed to employee paychecks through the existing expense reporting system. Security and user access within ADP SmartCompliance were administered centrally, with a designated point person responsible for ADP security management and pay card controls.
Operational integrations and touch points included an annual compensation upload to the Principal 401k recordkeeper and ongoing coordination with third party auditors for 401k and workers compensation plan audits. The system supported cross functional workflows spanning payroll, finance, HR and benefits, and interfaced with corporate processes for insurance renewals, corporate credit card administration and fleet lease accounting. ADP SmartCompliance was used to generate month end reports for executive management and to produce ad hoc reporting for finance and payroll stakeholders.
Governance centered on a single payroll operations lead who performed all payroll processing activities, managed payroll related accounting including posting month end journal entries and reconciling payroll balance sheet accounts, and maintained tax filing governance through ADP SmartCompliance. Change controls included consolidated responsibility for uploading tax notices and downloading filings, daily 401k recordkeeping tasks tied to payroll deductions, and documented month end close procedures to support executive reporting and audit requests.

In 2016 Palermo's Pizza implemented Microsoft Power BI as its Analytics and BI platform to centralize reporting for finance, operations, sales and supply chain stakeholders. The deployment focused on delivering custom Power BI reports and dashboards, establishing a governed data model, and standardizing reporting cadence across the organization.
Power BI implementation integrated with a Microsoft SQL Server centric data architecture, leveraging SSIS for ETL, SSAS cubes for analytical modeling, and SSRS and JetReports style workflows for paginated and cube-driven reporting. Development work emphasized DAX-driven measures, data modeling to support single-source reporting, and custom report templates that map to stakeholder requirements.
Integrations included application-level queries between the company ERP and third-party systems, with explicit emphasis on Microsoft Dynamics NAV familiarity for ERP data extraction. The IT Infrastructure team maintained database integrity and documentation for SQL servers and databases, supporting data consistency and the operational connectivity required for Microsoft Power BI data refreshes and scheduled distribution.
Governance centered on data consistency, integrity and establishing a single source of the truth, coupled with end-user training and a reporting cadence to drive consumption. The implementation placed responsibility on analytics developers to prioritize stakeholder requests, assist in professional development of the analytics team, and formalize processes for query management, data ownership and report lifecycle management.
