In 2016, Paramount Group Inc. implemented MRI CRE Lease Accounting in a Lease Management deployment to manage lease accounting and related payables across its portfolio. The implementation supported accounts payable and treasury operations for all entities, funds, family owned businesses, managed properties and corporate finance, and included bi-weekly check runs for 500+ invoices and post approval submission of 1000+ invoices monthly in Nexus Payables.
MRI CRE Lease Accounting was configured to support accounts payable workflows, monthly AP closes, weekly transfer of AP entries to the general ledger, and lease billing orchestration. Functional capabilities in use include check run orchestration, positive pay file generation and daily positive pay exemption processing, stop payment and void check controls, manual recording of ACH, EFT and FX payments using Excel and bank data, and re issue payment workflows.
The deployment integrated MRI CRE Lease Accounting with Nexus Payables for invoice approval and payment processing and exchanged files with bank systems to submit positive pay files and process daily exemptions. AP to GL transfers were executed within MRI, and the organization worked with IT to implement an automated billing process spanning Nexus Payables and MRI for managed properties and fund entities, providing a unified flow between lease billing and payables.
Operational governance centered on post approval controls for payment submission, bank reconciliation processes for positive pay and stop payment handling, and centralized monthly AP close procedures across funds and family holdings. The finance team retained responsibility for resolving Nexus Payables issues and payment inquiries from properties, funds and corporate entities while transitioning manual Excel and bank data reconciliations toward the automated billing and payment flows enabled by MRI CRE Lease Accounting.
