In 2015, Perth & Kinross Council joined the Scottish Consortium of Public Libraries contract to implement Civica Spydus as part of a multi authority effort to digitise catalogues and enable shared stock. The consortium award and rollout were announced in 2015, with phased go live stages beginning in November and December 2015.
Perth & Kinross Council implemented Civica Spydus as a Library Management application to support core library business functions including cataloguing, circulation, and public discovery. Configuration emphasis at the consortium level focused on shared catalogue records and stock visibility to enable inter authority lending and centralized collection management. The deployment of Civica Spydus included standard functional modules for cataloguing, circulation, and discovery consistent with Library Management deployments.
Operational scope covered council library services within the multi authority SCoPL contract, enabling shared stock across participating authorities and unified catalogue access for residents. Source materials do not enumerate third party integrations, the implementation narrative centers on consortium level data harmonization and shared operational processes rather than bespoke system interfaces. Civica Spydus supported both back office collection management and front line patron discovery and circulation workflows.
Governance and rollout were managed through the Scottish Consortium of Public Libraries contract model, with coordinated go live phases across authorities and consortium level decisions on cataloguing standards and shared stock rules. The stated objectives of the implementation included digitising catalogues, enabling shared stock, and reducing operating costs under the consortium procurement.
