In 2014, Phelan Energy Group implemented AccountsIQ Financial Consolidation. The deployment addressed the companys Financial Consolidation and Close needs for the Ireland based renewable energy firm, establishing a centralized application to move monthly consolidation workflows off spreadsheets and into a system driven process.
The implementation configured AccountsIQ Financial Consolidation to automate monthly consolidation tasks, operationalize close orchestration, and provide a system driven purchase order capability that replaces spreadsheet based PO tracking. Standard Financial Consolidation and Close capabilities such as multi entity consolidation logic, intercompany eliminations, and currency translation were applied to standardize period end routines and reduce manual journal work.
Operational ownership rested with finance and procurement functions, with rollout focused on accounting teams responsible for month end close and AP to enforce the new PO workflow. Governance changes included a controlled approval workflow for purchase orders and a centralized close schedule to move control and reconciliation tasks into the application rather than individual Excel files.
As stated by Robert Dillon at Phelan Energy Group, the chosen solution enabled automation of monthly consolidation, removal of Excel from core close processes, a seamless system driven PO system, and a more controllable and accurate platform for recording and reporting the companys financials through AccountsIQ Financial Consolidation.
