In 2017 Purple implemented the Stampli AP Automation Platform to address a chronic accounts payable backlog and fragmented invoice communications. Purple, a retail company working with about 1,350 vendors and an A/P team that previously managed a centralized inbox via Outlook, described the inbox as a black hole and reported weekly pay runs that required two resources nearly two full days to assemble vendor payment lists.
The deployment focused on invoice lifecycle control and centralized collaboration, implementing Stampli AP Automation Platform capabilities to capture invoices, provide threaded communications on each invoice, and support PO-driven workflows that represent 65 percent of Purple's invoice volume. The A/P team conducted a two to three week evaluation, and adoption was driven by the platform user experience and simplified handling of PO invoices compared to the Concur Invoice option that Purple had earlier tested.
Operational coverage centered on the accounts payable department, the A/P clerk and supervisor who previously managed the inbox, and the companywide vendor base, with a primary business function impact on invoice processing, payment run preparation, and audit tracking. Stampli was configured to centralize invoice communications and provide a single source of truth for invoice status, enabling easier auditor access and clearer ownership of each invoice.
Governance and workflow changes emphasized centralizing communications per invoice and formalizing collaboration so that invoice questions and approvals were tracked inside the platform rather than in email. The rapid evaluation and rollout prioritized alignment with PO workflows and restoring control over the invoice lifecycle, while avoiding prolonged professional services engagements that had hindered prior tooling efforts.

In 2020, Purple implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR platform. An HR Generalist based in Salt Lake City served as project lead for the Workday implementation, owning system integrations and ongoing HRIS maintenance from August 2020 to October 2021.
Implementation concentrated on Core HR functionality with configuration of employee records, position management, and compensation structures. Purple coordinated with Payroll and Finance to create pay bands during the Workday implementation, embedding pay band definitions into Workday HCM compensation configuration and job profiles to standardize pay administration.
Integrations were established between Workday HCM and OneSource for payroll and Dormakaba for time tracking, and the project lead maintained vendor relationships while negotiating contracts and renewals for those systems and for Workday. Integration design emphasized continuous maintenance and data synchronization across HR, payroll, and time collection systems using standard Workday integration patterns and connectors.
Operational coverage centered on HR, Payroll, and Finance functions and included the Salt Lake City HR organization for rollout and support. Governance included vendor management, contract negotiation, and HR case management, with the project lead also conducting employee investigations and managing employee relations as part of ongoing HR operations.
