In 2025 Renaissance Africa Energy implemented the Schlumberger Petrel E&P Software Platform. The Schlumberger Petrel E&P Software Platform is a Geology and Seismic Data Processing application used to centralize seismic interpretation, subsurface modeling and well planning for the company’s Nigerian operations, supporting geoscience and reservoir engineering functions.
Deployment focused on Petrel as the primary subsurface modeling and interpretation environment, implemented alongside Techlog wellbore interpretation and Eclipse reservoir simulator under the same SLB software agreement. Functional capabilities emphasized include seismic interpretation and horizon picking, geobody and structural modeling, property modeling and model conditioning for reservoir simulation, together with the interpretation to simulation handoff enabled by the Petrel, Techlog and Eclipse integration.
Architecturally the implementation aligns with SLB’s digital platform practices, integrating Petrel with SLB digital workflows to enable consolidated subsurface data management, consistent interpretation workflows, and governed interpretation-to-simulation data exchange. Operational scope centers on Renaissance Africa Energy’s subsurface, geoscience and reservoir engineering teams in Nigeria, with governance measures oriented to unified data models, role-based access controls and standardized interpretation review processes to support reproducible seismic interpretation and reservoir model delivery.
