In 2024 RenBio deployed STARLIMS ELS (via Labstep) as its Laboratory Management platform to centralize research and experiment data across the organization. The implementation addressed a need for a singular, interconnected system usable company-wide from the lab to the boardroom, enabling research teams to collaborate and enabling authorized stakeholders to retrieve experiment data securely.
The STARLIMS ELS (via Labstep) implementation standardized experiment data capture through the Labstep electronic lab notebook, providing cloud-based centralized storage, searchable retrieval, and traceability for individual experiments. Configuration emphasized automated and standardized entry workflows, role-based access controls for secure data access, and rapid user onboarding to accelerate adoption among RenBio's 25 employee research teams.
Operationally the Laboratory Management deployment enabled interconnectivity to external software and instruments to support in-depth analysis, while serving as a single point of collaboration for research activities. The solution was rolled out across research teams and laboratory functions, making experiment records accessible to authorized members and linking lab procedures to higher level reporting used by company leadership.
Governance and process changes focused on consolidating data capture and establishing cohesive, linked processes across the lab, with the Labstep ELN used to automate standardized experiment workflows and ensure experiments are secure, accessible, and traceable. The implementation was described as seamless across the organization, with centralized, secure research data storage and retrieval enabling collaboration and consistent experiment documentation.
