In 2016 Resona Holdings deployed Ripple Blockchain to chair a consortium building a 24 hour real time remittance infrastructure in Japan and overseas. The Ripple Blockchain implementation served as a Blockchain Platform to enable continuous settlement and cross border remittance use cases for the Resona Group, targeting both retail and corporate payment flows.
The implementation emphasized real time ledger settlement, always on availability, and payment orchestration capabilities consistent with a Blockchain Platform, supporting retail remittances and corporate multi-settlement workflows. For individual customers the program ran alongside a full introduction of the Smart Store and a move to make debit cards standard as cash cards for new accounts from October 2017, while for corporate customers Resona introduced multi-settlement functionality through the Resona Pay Resort collaboration with an e commerce site developer.
Resona Bank chaired the Ripple consortium using blockchain technology provided by Ripple, positioning the initiative to bridge domestic clearing endpoints with overseas rails and to scale settlement endpoints across the Resona Group. In April 2017 Resona Holdings established a settlement division to centralize governance, accelerate product rollout, and manage operational expansion of settlement services across group entities.
The program linked Resona Holdings, Ripple Blockchain, Blockchain Platform and settlement operations with an explicit financial objective, the stated goal of increasing income from settlement services to ¥61.0 billion in the year ending March 31, 2020, an increase of ¥5.0 billion compared with the year ended March 31, 2017.

In 2023 Resona Holdings implemented GXtest, a Test Automation Platform, alongside GeneXus to rebuild branch terminal systems as part of its next generation branch digitalization in Japan. The implementation focused on automating more than 3,000 unit and regression tests to accelerate delivery and improve quality across branch application stacks.
GXtest was configured to author and execute comprehensive unit and regression test suites, enabling continuous automated testing and regression automation across application components. The implementation included automated test execution scheduling, centralized test result aggregation, and orchestration capabilities to support iterative development and QA cycles.
The deployment integrated GXtest with GeneXus developed branch applications, enabling end to end verification of rebuilt terminal software across the Resona Bank Group branch network. The program was delivered with Innovative Solutions and NTT Data Sofia, reflecting third party system integrator involvement in implementation and rollout.
Governance changes centered on embedding continuous automated testing into development and QA workflows and formalizing regression automation ownership. The initiative achieved about a 50% reduction in dedicated financial terminals and an approximately 25% reduction in project time and cost as reported.
