In 2016, Rukiga SACCO Uganda implemented Ensibuuko MOBIS to digitize its Core Banking operations, an early adoption documented in a Mercy Corps impact study. The deployment focused on centralizing transaction processing and member account management within the SACCOs finance and member services functions in Uganda.
Ensibuuko MOBIS was configured to support deposit processing, loan management, member records, and reporting capabilities. Functional implementation emphasized transaction posting automation, consolidated member ledgers, and operational workflows for collection and repayment processing, aligning with standard Core Banking functional patterns.
Operational coverage included SACCO finance teams and member-facing operations, with the platform used to centralize member data and standardize teller and field collection workflows across the organization. The case study explicitly reports module usage for reporting and member growth, indicating the platform served both operational processing and management information needs.
Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, shifting manual cash and ledger procedures into digitized workflows. The Mercy Corps study reports that digitization cut deposit processing time dramatically and reduced loan repayment processing time by an estimated 60 to 80 percent, and that reporting and membership growth improved following the Ensibuuko MOBIS implementation.
